Self-Compassion (SC) Weekend Experience

Have you ever:

  • Judged yourself for not meeting expectations?

  • Felt overwhelmed by the events of the world?

  • Been down about how you’ve shown up in your relationships?

  • Shamed yourself for not matching some ideal version?

Self-Compassion can teach you how to meet your suffering with kindness, greet your anxiety with tenderness, and embrace your pain with compassion.

Research shows that people who have greater self-compassion also have:

  • Greater happiness

  • Increased life satisfaction

  • More motivation

  • Better Relationships

  • Improved physical health

AND…

  • The resilience to cope with stressful life events (like divorce, academic failure, health issues, and trauma). (Neff and Germer, 2018)

I have created a Weekend Experience of Self-Compassion that will allow you to immerse yourself in practices that will both soothe your soul and motivate you to show up for yourself with more love and kindness.

What's included in the Self-Compassion Weekend Experience:

  • Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm PT Zoom Sessions

  • Brief teachings on Self-Compassion

  • Guided meditations

  • Group sharing

If you would like to have more self-kindness, compassion, and comfort in your life, read on.

Hi, I’m Dr. Becky Sherman.

I’m a psychologist, dissertation coach, lover of the Pacific Northwest, and mango fanatic.

The Self-Compassion Weekend Experience is for all of us who have shed tears or felt it hard to breathe at times.

Like you, I often struggle with painful feelings and thoughts that can drag me down into the depths where I feel underwater and confused as to how to find the sun again.

The only thing that helps me when I find myself in such a murky space is Self-Compassion (SC).

When I’m feeling sad, frustrated, or angry, and all I sense is a dark hole surrounding me, I go to my SC practice.

With Self-Compassion I have learned how to bring kindness and tenderness to even the most painful experiences.  I now know how to support myself by using the skills I’ve gained with this practice.

I want to share all that I have learned with you.

Come hang out with me for a weekend full of warm fuzzy feelings.  Allow me to teach and guide you through a number of beautiful practices that are sure to fill your inner well with kindness and compassion.

Here’s what will happen during our Weekend Experience:

  • We will meet on Zoom from 9:00 am-1:00 pm PT on Saturday and Sunday.

  • I will teach a bite-size portion of Self-Compassion.

  • Next, I will lead you in a guided meditation to practice what you’ve just learned.

  • Then together we will share with each other what the experience was like and I will answer any questions that come up.

  • We will continue the above three steps throughout the weekend to learn the foundations of Self-Compassion so that you can put it into practice in your life and experience the joy and peace that comes with being your own best friend.

By the end of the weekend you will have experienced how to:

  • Be your own best friend. The friend who offers tender sweet words when you’re down, tells you you’re a good person when you’ve made a mistake, reminds you how wonderful you are when you’ve received some criticism, and is always with by your side.

  • Name your needs.

  • Show up for yourself in fierce ways so that you can protect yourself and set appropriate boundaries.

  • Comfort yourself when you are in the midst of a difficult moment.

Questions you might be asking…

  • The weekend will be focused on “non-striving”, meaning, you will be asked to do whatever feels best for you each step of the way. In order to facilitate the most relaxing and enjoyable experience possible, you will want to wear your coziest outfit, be in a comfy space with your favorite blanket and cup of tea or coffee (or chai or mud/wtr) and maybe a couple of snacks, then settle in for a weekend of being held and guided through some beautiful practices to enhance your ability to be kinder to yourself and others.

  • No worries. This Experience is not for “professionals” rather, it is for every single person who wants to feel differently in their lives and learn how to practice self-kindness and compassion. Over the weekend, I will offer guided meditations that you get to simply follow along with. It’s beautiful and feels good. You gotta try it. :)

  • In order to create a safe space in which everyone feels more comfortable sharing, I will not be recording our sessions.

  • No. Nope. Not at all. Though we will be sharing in the group, this is not group therapy. We will be sharing about the process of Self-Compassion and how you experience it, not about individual stories or histories.

  • Email me at becky@transformingtogether.org to inquire about scholarship opportunities.

  • Email me at becky@transformingtogether.org and I will do my best to answer them!
